Baptism in La Ramona

This week was awesome!  We had a baptism for Dinanyiri! She is 15. Her dad is a recent convert. We also put a whole bunch of people on date for this next month. We are working really hard and should have two more baptisms this week. We are finding more and more people everyday that are so prepared for baptism. I am super excited for Veronica to get baptized. She is so adorable. She is in her 50s, and she is so so pumped.

Life has been great  here in the DR. I bought another moomoo. You know those nightgown things. They are so cold to sleep in. I love it.  In one of the pictures Hermana Jackson and we are wearing our tubies. EVERYONE uses them here to keep their hair straight and nice. they work really well.

Hermana Jackson is fantastic. She already knows so much and came to the field ready. We have transfers next week and we are praying that we will stay together.

One thing that's sad. I can feel my body breaking down from how much its gone through lately. I am so sore all the time. But it's fine. It's normal for this point in the mission. Just keep going :) Also, I have never drank so much water in my entire life.  I always need more.

Anyway. this week was fantastic. I am so excited for the next one. :)

Love you all,
Hermana Shepherd

Translating for dentists

This week was so fun!  On Tuesday and Wednesday we got help some dentists from Washington who came on a humanitarian visit to help the people with their dental needs. I helped translate for them!  I think they sent a picture to my mom. (at the bottom on this post)  Anyway , it was cool to see people from my home state. They gave us a bunch of donated clothes and baseball gear to hand out to our investagators.

There is this group of boys (like ten years old) that we walk past everyday and everyday they are blaying baseball with a stick and a water jug cap. When they see us they run over and try a different ways to be as tall as my companion (who is 6'4). They stand on rocks, fences, etc...  It's quite funny.   We are going to give them some of the baseball gear that we received.  They will be so excited!

We have some really good people that we are teaching right now. One of our investagators just left for EFY, and she will have a baptism date when she gets back. We have another bapstism planned for the 23rd. All is well here is Villa Verde.

Weird thing. I had three men come up to me and talk to me in English all on the same day at diiferent times. Two were very interested and one came to church!   It feels really awkward when people talk to me in English. I don't like it.  haha!

I am still struggling with ameobas this week and feeling pretty sick.  So thats not fun, but I will be better soon and then we can work really hard!

Love you all! Have a good week!

Happy 4th of July!

Hello,

This week was super great!   We went to the temple. My favorite expierence in the temple yet. I am so grateful for the spirit that I can feel there.

This week we saw a lot of miracles and we also set a baptism date with a woman we are teaching.

I don't remember if I sent an email last week, so I willl talk about last week a little bit also. I am training Hermana Jackson, my second Hermana Jackson in a row. She is from Oregon. She is 6 foot 4. She has great animo and already is jumping into the teaching and talking with everyone.

We had a lot of people stop us on the street this week who have a lot of potential. We are very excited. Jeancel our recent convert got the priesthood this last sunday. YAY!

This week and last were awesome. I love training.
